• Meeting headed by Lt. Gross
  • Reported that action was taken on traffic and parking issues from last meeting in the way of tickets and towing
  • Lt. Gross informed us of a new in car computerized ticket writing capability in some 19th District police cars that allows police to enter driver info once and write multiple tickets and print them out in the car. Ticket writing has gone up as much as 80% in some problem areas due to this efficiency which should help change driver behavior in problem areas particularly with running red lights and stop signs in the PSA.
  • 18 foot beat Officers added along Market street, called the “Initiative Officers”. This is part of new officer training. Most of these new officers are staying in the 19th District after their initial training.
  • Also reported that some issues have not been addressed after being reported month after month. Issues with drugs being sold/used particularly around 900 block Flanders. Details were given about a particular drug location and car being used. Lt. is going to talk with Narcotics detail and set up a sting.
  • Reports of a great police presence and response at the Overbrook neighborhood walk.
  • Homeless folks entering/ exiting Morris Park at 68th and Oxford continues to be an issue.
  • Reported as the school year gets closer to ending and weather gets warmer OHS kids are cutting school and hanging out around Tustin playground from hours of about 10 to 3. Requested more police patrols during those hours during the week.
  • Double parking problematic on 66th from City to Malvern and Haverford at all hours.
  • Police have a city wide program to address the quads and dirt bikes. Deploying Highway Patrol, tow trucks and confiscating these illegal bikes. As we know (and of course they know) the police are not permitted to chase them as it creates a public safety issue. This initiative catches them at gas stations and garages, etc. Report any of these illegal dirt bikers to 911 if you know where they are being stored and driven.
  • Police caught the “working van burglars” reported on last couple of meetings. They were caught stealing a refrigerator wheeling it into the van!
  • Theft from autos continue in the PSA. ALL cars were unlocked. One had a gun stolen.3 cars were stolen (one had keys left in the car).criminals know the penalties are not severe for TFA so best defense is locking your car and not leaving visible valuables. See attachment.
